SAP SD News & Updates

  1. R/3 SD Functionality Boosts mySAP CRM 2005 Sales Transactions - five basic R/3 Sales and Distribution features that SAP added to mySAP CRM 2005 to help improve the sales order process. These features are a new Vendor column for line items, the ability to limit the allowed order types by sales area, new business partner templates, product proposals in quotations and orders, and mass update functionality for sales transactions. Key Concept - Information about these SD features is available in the mySAP CRM 2005 Release Notes at http://service.sap.com/releasenotes. Follow menu path mySAP Solutions>mySAP Customer Relationship Management (mySAP CRM)>Release Notes SAP CRM 5.0 (SP06). When you review the Release Notes, verify which CRM components are supported. It is possible that new functionality is extended to only one component and not others. For example, a new feature may be available in online order entry (transaction CRMD_ORDER) and the People-Centric User Interface, but not supported in the Call Center, Field (Mobile) Sales, or Internet Sales. SAP added many new features and functionality to mySAP CRM 2005 Marketing and Service components. These updates, such as rules-based lead distribution and usage-based billing, tend to overshadow some of the more basic mySAP CRM improvements in this release. For example, SAP incorporated a number of plain vanilla R/3 Sales and Distribution (SD) features that were not included in earlier mySAP CRM releases. Here are my top five picks of those basic features.  (Oct 2005 news)

5.  Podcast: Best-Practice Order Management - Automation with SAP Solutions by Esker Software

Published on: October 2006

Overview:

Today companies must tighten their belts to compete in a constantly evolving business world. As businesses evaluate the best way to trim budgets, several areas come to mind that can be streamlined to produce significant cost savings. One area that can offer significant economical gains is the order-to-cash cycle. If there's a single characteristic that distinguishes high-performing companies, it's the efficiency of their customer order management processes. Reducing the time it takes to transform a customer order into money in the bank offers strategic benefits to the company and creates more rewarding customer relationships.

Many companies have implemented leading SAP business applications to help run their daily order-to-cash activities. The addition of SAP solutions empowers companies to automate many of the business processes that were done by hand less than a decade ago. However, there is still plenty of opportunity to improve accuracy and efficiency in the order-to-cash cycle through automation of the document management process.

Recently, the activity of order-to-cash has been gaining the interest of companies desperately seeking measures to speed up their revenue cycle, improve customer satisfaction, and increase profitability. Beyond significant cost savings, companies converting to an automated order-to-cash system can realize efficiencies throughout the order management process.

This podcast discusses these benefits and presents a unique order-to-cash solution, exploring automation of the order-to-cash process within SAP SD. It analyzes the challenges faced by companies today who are still using manual processes, as well as the benefits of automating processes -- including time, labor and cost savings. In doing so, this podcast discusses innovative technology for comprehensively automated order management to optimize the order-to-cash cycle.

Above all, this podcast is designed to help CEOs, CFOs, CIOs, Order Processing managers and SAP system administrators to learn, plan and evaluate automation of the order-to-cash cycle to gain added efficiency in today's competitive business environment.
